Summer Camps

High School Summer Adventure is for students in grades 7-12. Some past themes for this age group have been: Camping, Wild Life, Pioneer Life, Touring our Capital City, Sports, the Arts, International Days. The primary goal of this summer camp is to provide teenage students who are visually impaired opportunities to experience hands-on learning. The elements of the expanded core curriculum are implemented throughout the program. This is an excellent way for building friendships and strengthening self confidence in a relaxed and fun-filled setting.

Elementary Summer Adventure is for students in grades 2-6. During this time of adventure, the students learn about friendships, and working together while enjoying themes such as: Pioneer Days, Sports, International Days, Enjoying the Outdoors, Sea Life. The students enjoy learning the skills to become more independent and love the hands on experiences they have during the week. The expanded core curriculum areas are also included throughout the program. Playing and bonding with new friends who also have a visual impairment make this summer adventure a special time of growing.

Braille Literacy Camp is a program targeted for elementary through middle-school students who are learning braille. The curriculum is based on the ND Summer Reading Program through the State Library in Bismarck. We provide the writing activities and reading selections in braille format and select them to fit the specific age and reading level of the students that attend. Themes vary from year to year but always ensure motivating and enjoyable activities to keep the students reading not only during camp, but all through the summer.
